Based on a traditional ram pump principles, Water Powered Technologies advanced the old design by using modern composite materials specifically developed for metal replacement and a patented Venturi Valve and non-return valve which has enabled the Papa Pump to be significantly lighter, smaller, more durable and more efficient than the old traditional cast iron rams.

Although it's based on the traditional hydro ram principles of using the 'water hammer' effect to pressurise a portion of the flow, the Papa Pump uses patented, specially formulated EPDM valves which have enabled the pump to be much smaller and lighter. It therefore contains no moving mechanical parts that wear out. The other bonus is that it is manufactured from modern materials - the body is made from a 50% glass/50% plastic composite developed specifically as a metal replacement which is extremely strong, stable and doesn't rust!
Using the new EPDM valves has increased pump efficiency and the use of the modern material has increased the durability of parts and reduced costs - for instance replacing the Papa Pump valves is a fraction of the cost of traditional valves. We even include a complete set of spare valves in the kit!
